The 2nd stand alone event from SCO after the 10h of Suzuka was the Road America 500 miles. The teams could choose between 3 classes the fastest one was the DP followed by the GT3 cars and the Porsche 911 cup car.
52 cars qualified on the grid. In the DP class Thrustmaster Mivano took the pole in front of MSP Phoenix and Glacier Racing. The gap in time between the top 3 was noticeable. Three tenths was the gap between position 1 and 2 and another 3 tenths between 2 and 3. In GT3, Triton racing was able to take the pole in front CoRe SimRacing GT 2 and Follow > Me eSports GT. In GT the field was way closer with 5 cars within 3 tenths. Finally in the Porsche class P.R.T was the fastest in qualifying followed by CoRe SimRacing Cup and Williams JIM Junior Cup. With 13 cars the Porsche cup class was the smallest class in this event.
No surprises in the race in the DP class Thrustmaster Mivano was able get a gap to the rest of the field in the early stages off the race and never gave another team the chance to get close. It was very difficult to manage traffic with the 2 other classes. But Thrustmaster Mivano managed everything well. MSP phoenix was less lucky and lost 2 spots finishing P4. Glacier was able to keep the speed and kept a little pressure on Thrustmaster finishing 2nd ten seconds behind the leaders. TBR rounded out the podium starting from P5.
There was a big surprise in GT3, SRT Esports took the win in front of the pole starter Triton racing. Why a surprise? Because they started in P8, a very good drive from the SRT team. A lot of GT3 teams had trouble in this race. Both CoRe SimRacing and both Hellinic GT cars didn’t finish as well as the Williams JIM Junior GT and Torque Freak racing GT. Other teams could take advantage of this situation. UI1-Positive took the last podium spot, Sorg Esports and Follow>me eSports rounded out the top 5.
P.R.T Porsche could manage the upcoming traffic and kept the speed up taking the victory in the Porsche class. CoRe SimRacing Cup saved the day for CoRe SimRacing finishing 2nd in this class and another podium spot for the UI1-Positive team with 3rd place in the Porsche Cup. They took the last podium spot in both GT3 and Porsche class.
The second SCO event was again a success and the second SCO endurance series is already announced.
