The Mazda MX-5 World Tour went to Brazil for round two at Autódromo José Carlos Pace, a track that has seen many great races and tense season finales. The MWT also made its debut on the iRacing eSports Network, the central hub for iRacing broadcasts.

Sonny Kanchin was missing, giving round one winner, Jaume Dalmases Torres an advantage early on in the season.

Torres made the most of Kanchin’s absence and got pole once again, with Gianni Quintelier just 0.007 behind him in second. Kanchin’s teammate, Marcello Pagnan would start in third place.

Torres and Quintelier kept their order when the green flag flew, Pagnan was overtaken by Nick Thissen for third after going side by side for the first two turns.

Back in fourteenth place, there was a massive eleven car train that was battling all the way around the track. Being four wide at one point all through turn nine.

On lap eleven Guintelier got shuffled back to fourth from second, behind Pagnan after the pair took the lead from Torres a few laps before.

Pagnan and Schwenke came in from the lead pack at the end of lap twelve. Quintelier responded to the pair at the end of the next lap, leaving Dalmases Torres out on his own. Quintelier came out behind Pagnan, with a one-second buffer to Schwenke behind.

Torres finally came in with nine laps left in the race, he came into the pits too late and came out behind Schwenke in fourth.

With seven laps to go, Nick Thissen spun from fifth place at the final corner, losing five positions in the process.

After swapping positions, the lead two were caught by Schwenke and Torres. Schwenke and Torres continually battled all the way around a lap, letting the gap to the leaders build again.

At the three laps to go mark Schwenke went down the inside of Torres going into turn three, and as Quintelier ran wide, Torres seized the opportunity to go down the middle and make it three wide for turn six. Somehow Torres got second, with Quintelier going down to fourth.

As the trio continued to battle, Pagnan started to pull away. As hard as Schwenke and Quintelier battled, they couldn’t get past Torres.

Pagnan crossed the line to take his first win of the season, with Torres getting another strong result. Schwenke rounded out the podium with Quintelier just missing out on his first.
