The Autobahn MotorCar Group Sportcar Challenge goes down to Georgia and to the famous Road Atlanta.

After the last two rounds in Florida Robert Tinsey and Jesse Lyons tied a top the LMP1 points standing after extraordinary runs. In LMP2 Billy Smith has a small points lead over Scott McGarvey and plans to continue to show his speed this week. In the GTE points it is still Paul Darling with a dominating points lead after the last two rounds.

The pole sitter for each class went as follows. In LMP1 it was Jason DeVriese and Sai Andra on the front row. In the LMP2 it was going to be Jason Gerard and Billy Smith II leading the class. And finally in the GTE category it will be Sebring winner Jeffrey Ooms and Bradlee Haley.

When the green flag dropped DeVriese got an amazing jump on the start and began to pull away from Andra early. Jason Gerard had a excellent start as well pulling away from Smith II. In GTE Ooms was able to pull away from Haley and his teammate Simmonic.

Only one lap in Lyons and Tinsey made contact going into turn one. While the GTE leader of Ooms cut the course and fell outside of the top 5 in class giving the lead to Simonic. Just only a few laps in and at least several cars were out of the race due to tight side by side racing.

In GTE Simmonic pulls away from the GTE field and kept the lead for the duration of the race.

DeVriese was less than half way through and had already built a 10 second lead over Mike Young. LMP2 though was a tight battle under two seconds between Gerard and Smith II.

With under 30 minutes to go DeVriese made his pitstop and fell back to 2nd for a brief moment. Steven McGarvey was the first to blink in GTE to make a pitstop along with Billy Smith II in LMP2.

The action heated all night as drivers from P1 and P2 had to deal with lapped traffic all night and also there own competitors within the same class. With under 15 minutes to go LMP2 leaders Gerard and Smith II made contact going into the Esses of turn 10 causing Smith II to spin and drop out of contention for the win. With that Gerard had to give the lead over to Smith II. But with under 5 minutes to go in the race Kredowski in the GTE Porsche didn’t get on the brakes quick enough and bumped Smith II going into turn 10 causing him to spin out and giving the lead back to Gerard.

In the end it was Jason DeVriese winning round three followed by Mike Young and Daniel Graulty round out your podium in LMP1.

In LMP2 it was Jason Gerard after the contact late in the race he dropped to second but after an incident he got back to the lead to win at the ATL. Billy Smith II and Scott McGarvey round out your podium in LMP2

And finally in GTE Alex Simmonic lead a dominant race from start to finish. Followed by Steven McGarvey and Bradlee Haley round out the podium.
